Speak To My Heart
When you say you love me, your actions should convey that you are genuine. Love doesn’t hurt. It isn’t envious. Love is defined in Webster’s New World Dictionary as strong affection or liking for someone or something. So when you truly love me, my heart should not ache. Your embrace should not be fake. The words that I hear you say are real. Can’t you see my tears? This isn’t love that I feel. If this is what love feels like, then I don’t want any part of this deal. Speak To My Heart.
Just like any relationship, when you make a deal, the contract is sealed with words that can make or break the agreement. When you are a child, friendships are often torn apart because the terms change when teasing begins to form emotional scars that are never healed for some. Mental and physical abuse at any age can leave one’s heart in a dysfunctional state. Even to this date, our country is still struggling with the realities of how words can have an impact on each of us. The content of our character is reflected in the words we use and the demeanor in which our message is delivered. I believe that when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said in his I HAVE A DREAM speech that his children would one day live in a nation that judged them not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character that he was reminding all of us that we should carry ourselves in a manner that reflects love and respect for everyone. Dr. King’s I HAVE A DREAM speech resonated words that changed hearts and minds. What does your words evoke? Speak To My Heart.
I often read the scriptures to find the words to help fill my heart with peace, love and hope. These words often Speak To My Heart and renew my attitude to treat others in a manner that I too would want to be treated. One of my favorite scriptures is I Corinthians 13:4-7 “Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about in justice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him.” (Living Bible) In 2011, Anecdotebooks.com hopes that you will never miss an opportunity to show someone that you love him or her. Always speak words from your heart.
Anecdotebooks.com was created to be a place for all women and girls to come and share their stories. Stories that will help to encourage others while providing an outlet to speak to the hearts and minds of those that feel that don’t have a voice. Your words are more powerful than you realize. This year we invite you to help us move a nation to use words that rebuilds hearts. Your story matters and we are looking forward to hearing what you have to say. May you have a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Flowers Are Beautiful Like You
Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Jasmine. She lived in a cottage in the woods. She had no flowers around her cottage because she didn’t like flowers. Jasmine felt flowers had no beauty. She felt this way because she didn’t understand the true meaning of a flower. She just thought flowers did nothing but sit around all day and be pretty. At least vegetables offered something productive and were useful.
Then Spring came and she wanted to plant her favorite vegetable, corn. She went off to the store to get seeds to plant in her vegetable garden. While she was at the store, flowers began to grow around her cottage. There were 7 tulips, 5 orchids, 10 roses and 6 daisies. After she got her seeds to plant the corn. She headed back to the woods to her little cottage. When she got home, she was shocked to find flowers all around her. She said how did this happen? I don’t understand. Then God came to her and he said Jasmine I came to teach you that flowers are beautiful like you. She said, why? And God said you are enchanted like a rose. Each of these flowers represents whom you are. The tulip represents full of joy. The orchid represents strong girl and the daisy represents colorful. So from now on Jasmine, you will tell girls that a flower is beautiful like you.

Sianya and Lory
Make a Big Change
Once upon a time in a land filled with glitz and glamour called Doggyork, lived two dogs named Sianya and Lory. They had different dreams that were special to them. One morning, Sianya woke up and sat up in her classic bed thinking about her plans for the day. First she went to get a fancy breakfast. After that, Sianya went outside to play with her very, dearest, joyful friend Lory. Lory was waiting for her at the memory bench where exciting things happen. When Sianya made it to the memory bench, Lory invited her to model in a world famous dog show. Sianya agreed and ran quickly home to get ready for the show. While she was trying to do her special walk, she kept tripping so she decided to make a change. Instead of trying to be a model, she would use her talent to help other puppies that did not have homes. Sianya was so excited and could not wait to tell Lory.
It was the day of the dog show. Sianya told Lory that she wanted to do something to help homeless dogs instead of modeling in the show. Lory decided she would help her friend by organizing a fashion show to raise money to help homeless dogs. They both made a big decision to make a change for the better. The two friends lived happily
ever after.

Shape Me, Mold Me,
Make Me Over Again
It was time again for the Summerville High School's class of 1980 30th class reunion. This was the event that many anticipated with great enthusiasm and others dreaded like the plague. Julia was never the prettiest girl in class and wasn't very popular so she preferred to stay where she knew she fit in the best. Julia was a successful wife, mother and championship puzzle master. She loved the hours she would spend putting the pieces together to create something beautiful. When Julia was five years old, she became very ill. Her parents always kept her close and tried to do everything they could to take her mind off the pain she felt day in and day out. The only thing that seemed to help Julia during her illness were puzzles. It always amazed her how each piece had a different shape but was molded for a special place inside the huge puzzle. It was also exciting to take the puzzles apart and put them together all over again. Over the years, all of the medicines and medical treatments had taken its toll on Julia's body. By the time she got to high school she was very withdrawn and didn't think she fit in because she had scars that had left her disfigured. Julia often identified with the puzzle pieces because she knew if she could just be reshaped and remolded she could be made over again to look like the beautiful woman she knew she was meant to
be. Then she would fit right in.
Many years had passed since high school and Julia had fell in love with a young man she met while a patient in the hospital. They were made for each other. Julia's medical condition began to improve and life was going well for her. It wasn't until she got the invitation for the high school reunion that she began to question her place in this sometimes-puzzling world.
(continued...Shape Me, Mold Me, Make Me Over Again)
She knew her family loved her but what would her classmates think of her? That night Julia was working on one of her most difficult puzzles. As she worked each piece into their proper place, she soon began to realize that all these years she was being shaped and molded so that she could go to the class reunion and show her classmates that she has a purpose in this life. Just like the puzzle pieces she worked with for years, she too had been shaped through the many obstacles she had overcome in her life. She had been molded into a beautiful wife and mother because she knew what it took toendure the pain life would some day confront her children with. She was made over again when her husband gave her the love she had been longing for. Julia found her place in this perplexing life. She was so renewed by this revelation that she and her husband attended the class reunion and danced the night away like there was no one else in the room.

“You've gotta dance like there's nobody
watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.”
― William W. Purkey
Saying you love someone or something is worthless without the appropriate action. The word love has been so widely misused that abusers and/or abused people really don’t know what it means to truly love. People; please don’t be misled by someone that says they love you. If every time they say they love you it hurts, it is NOT LOVE! Love does not hurt.
“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.”
–Romans 12:9-10
